Welcome to the East Coast Bays Rugby Club

The East Coast Bays Rugby Football Club was founded in 1946, to cater for the sparsely populated (5,000) people of the East Coast Bays area on the North Shore of Auckland.

The East Coast Bays Rugby Club is one of the Premier rugby clubs in the North Harbour Rugby Union.

Club Values

Our club is built on the core values of family, community, youth, Team 1st, fair play, fun, serving our stakeholders, excellence, success and of course providing a winning environment for our Rugby teams! In 2009 we began a renaissance at the club in our quest to return it to the mighty years of the 1980’s, when Bays was on the top rung in North Harbour Rugby.

Club Background

The Club has a function and bar complex situated at Windsor Park in Mairangi Bay, in the Bays on Auckland’s North Shore and is one of the only clubs in the Auckland region to own its own fields (through the Windsor Park Trust Board).  Both the grounds and the facilities are managed independently by the Windsor Park Board Inc (WPB Inc.) , of which Rugby is a 50% Stakeholder and are represented.

In 2009 the Club fielded 6 senior teams including Premiers, Senior 1sts, Under 85kg, Under 21’s, U19’s and Presidents teams with approximately 150 Senior Players and the Junior Club had approximately 20 teams and 400 players. There are about 450 non playing members including ;Coaches managers, trainers, physios, doctors, administrators, old boys, life members, sponsors and other Friends of Bays , in addition to the host of other non financial supporters, parents and family members.

The Club is reversing the general trend and is growing it’s member base each year. In 2010, it is anticipated that the Club will continue to expand with at least one other Senior Team (Senior 2nds) and 2 other Junior teams, making the Club one of the largest in the southern hemisphere. We will be fielding between 6 and 8 Senior teams in the North Harbour Rugby competitions this year 

The Club has a committed philosophy of developing local players and building strong links with the local secondary schools, in particular Rangitoto, Long Bay Westlake, Albany , Kristin and Pinhehurst , along with offshore clubs Toyota (Japan) and Capillano (Canada).
